Rate of binding of antibiotics to canine serum protein.

The current level of the three antibiotics bind similar chemical structure, each with a different degree of protein binding, is determined. Cephaloridine, which is 10% bound to serum proteins, tied at a faster rate than cephalothin, which is 40% bound to Rat Plasma serum proteins. Cefazolin, bound 80%, is required for a maximum period of maximum binding occurred.

Binding protein level appear directly related to the total percentage bound. Data from these studies indicate that prolonged levels of the drug binds highly protein-bound may affect pharmacological studies.

Canine marrow transplantation: the serum blocking factors necessary to maintain stable chimeric state?

Long-term radiation chimera nine dogs and they dog histocompatibility locus (DL-A) compatible, negative cultural mix littermate donor leukocytes marrow studied between 545 and 1282 days after total body irradiation 1,200 R and marrow grafting. Before the time of testing, the donor marrow chimeras are immunized against them with repeated skin grafts which they denied.

skin fibroblasts from donors chimera and they are tested for inhibition of cell (CI) in the test microcytotoxicity into lymphocytes exposure of the chimera, the donor and the normal dog and the effects of various sera in CI evaluated. Lymphocytes from the donor marrow fibroblasts sensitive consistently inhibited from chimera (eight of nine dogs); CI was canceled by chimeric serum in only three of the eight cases.

Only two chimeras demonstrate their Rat Serum consistent CI fibroblasts "own"; CI blocked by chimeric serum in one of the two. The remaining seven chimera did not show a consistent CI. Sequential study in 16 additional recipients DL-A littermate compatible marrow do 45-439 days after marrow grafting. Seven out of 16 did not show the CI fibroblasts chimeric chimeric lymphocytes at all times.

Nine shows the CI on one or several occasions. Serum blocking factor seen on one occasion in each of the two chimeras. In conclusion, the CI test is able to detect immunity to a "small" histocompatibility system in dogs. Both long-term and short-term chimera sometimes suggests chimeric CI fibroblasts but serum blocking factor does not seem necessary to maintain a stable graft-host of "tolerance."

Transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE) of swine: canine serum antibodies against an associated virus.

Sera puppies weaned from, specific pathogen-derived hysterectomy free (SPF) closed dog colony does not contain antibodies against TGE virus related or serologically related, but the sera of puppies and dogs that are older than the open cage did.  A ntivirus higher titer in the Rat Serum Albumin serum of older dogs suggest that these animals have suffered from either persistent or recurrent infection. Seventy-two puppies have had no contact with pigs, suggesting that the virus can spread independently of any contact with pigs. Tumor-blocking and -inhibitory serum factor in the clinical course canine venereal tumor. An in vitro method for growing colonies of cells in a tumor dog sex transplantabel semisolid agar described. Using autologous or homologous sera collected a normal dog as a feeder layer, 49.3 +/- 3.5 and 47.5 +/- 4.5 colonies of tumor is obtained, respectively, when 2 X 10 cells (4) tumors plated. With this test system, the assessment of the number of colonies provide fa...
